I've been waiting a long time to start building our 360 cannon in the nether. Then I realized, there is nothing preventing me from building it now!
Building the cannon is definitely not an easy task. I don't think it needs to undergo any major redesign though. Simply replacing the water at the base with lava should do the trick I think.
