This is the first episode of my experimental Harvest Moon 64 LP & WalkThrough.
This is a casual game that you can play at your own pace. Recently though I've learned the advanced mechanics of the game and the many requirements needed to finish the game with a perfect ending.
My goal is to finish the game with all 16 photos in the album and receive a perfect evaluation without intentionally using any game glitches, exploits, or "strategies" that I consider cheap. These include, but are not limited to:
#1: No use of gameshark codes.
#2: No taking advantage of affection exploits. (such as the Karen/dog exploit, multiple music boxes, animal abuse, etc.)
#3: No cheap tool leveling. I may only level up a tool by using it for its purpose and outside.
#4: No save state / replay abuse to get what I want, unless it's required or within reason.
#5: Along with rule #4, no intentional weather manipulation unless required. (ex. needing a sunny Fall 7th)
#6: I am only allowed to have 1 free drink a day. (no infinite stamina from wine, milk, water)
#7: I am not allowed to use the horse and dogs race glitch to get free medals.
#8: I am not allowed to use medical herbs if my player is totally fatigued to prevent sickness.
For an extra self-imposed challenge, I must:
#1: Go to sleep before the day ends (6 am).
#2: Wait until the 3rd year before I can get the awesome blue power berry, which has the ability to prevent fatigue / sickness.
In this run I plan to get:
#1: 4001+ combined affection points from the villagers
#2: all 5 girls fall in love with me
#3: sick 0 days.
#4: 4 cows, 4 sheep, 6 chickens
#5: 9000+ shipped crops
#6: 1000+ shipped eggs or milk
#7: 201+ fish
#8: all 6 house extentions
#9: all 35 recipes
#10: 100,000G+ ending cash
#11: 220+ player happiness
#12: all 10 power berries and the super special blue power berry in year 3
#13: 384+ planted grass squares
Shoutouts to SomeCrazyGuy, kirbyarm, & Sam Van Dam for contributing most to the reverse engineering of Harvest Moon 64 to figure out exactly what is required to beat it.
